Fact And Fiction Behind 911 Conspiracy Theories
The 911 conspiracy theories in circulation will shock and amaze. They range from espionage to doomsday scenarios to alien colonization of the planet. Some are just plain bizarre and laughable. Others do hold some credence of logic and possibility.
When we talk about 911 we are referring to September the 11th 2001 when America suffered a terrorist attack. Hijackers took control of commercial airliners and then flew them into the Pentagon and the New York Trade Centre. About 2000 American citizens died as a result of the incident. There were also 63 British nationals and many people from other countries. The hijackers and all the passengers also died.
The events on that day are said to be the worst terrorist attack that America has ever experience right on its own soil. The dramatic scenes that were to erupt looked like scenes dreamt up by Hollywood. It is difficult not to be awestruck by them even when looked back on ten years later.
The first thing the cameras pick up on is some low flying planes that look decidedly off course. Then there is the impact of the plane as it plunges into the tower causing an explosion of fire and great billowing clouds of smoke. People can be seen hurtling themselves out of window. There is footage shot from the interior of the building showing people escaping fire fighters working in a bid to organize an evacuation.
However, not everyone believes the official stories released by the American government regarding what happened that day. There are theories that the US CIA and the Israeli MOSSAD were the culprits and not Al Qaeda or any other Islamic organization. Some people have argued that the buildings could not have fallen in the way they did as a result of the bombings. They must have been brought down by a controlled demolition.
Despite all the 911 conspiracy theories, one fact is without any question. Many innocent people lost their lives that day in the most terrible circumstances. It is a day we will never forget.
